Snowy photos

And a link for a last-minute juried comp and exhibition from the DC Historical Society (or as my father the historian always said, the Hysterical Society). The deadline is Sunday and images must be shot at one of their list of "endangered" DC places.

Hey guys! Its Emerald and this is just about all the best work I've done

Hello Blog World: Adriel

Hello, Blog World. I am Adriel. I've been playing with photography since high school. I bought my first cool Nikon DSLR last year and I'm experimenting with it. I love black and white photographs but also think color can be fun. I also really love toy cameras and I'm also including some of my favorite images taken with my Diana mini.

The occasional mega-gallery free-for-all that is Artomatic!

For Maryland types, VisArts in Rockville is a gallery with many classes in photography and other arts, as well as social events and of course exhibits.

When Strangers Bring Cameras

Here is an article by Ardis Cameron you may find interesting and provocative, if a bit academic in style. Thoughts?
Very interested in having style and momentum in my photos...I have a new camera and am interested in developing my knowledge of my new Canon and want to learn to take crisp photos that speak to the viewer!

Didn't get outside to shoot this week but in looking at the work of Andrew Sanderson I was inspired to simply look around the house.  This led me to take a closer look at my kitchen and my small collection of Buddha statues.  I didn't realize I had a collection until I gathered them all together.

Introduction: Isha

I started dabbling in photography a few years ago, and my DSLR is about 8 years old now. (Time to think about getting a new one?)

Here's a few pictures that I've taken in the past. Some from my travels:

in a market in Sri Lanka

outside a mosque in New Delhi

Some from when I lived in New York City, and on subsequent trips:

Near Union Square (that's a taxi passing by)

 Time Warner Center

 subway tracks

watch repairman in downtown Manhattan

I took some engagement photos for friends of mine last year. Here's one of them:

I'm looking forward to the next few weeks and trying to see how I can better utilize the functionality of my camera and be able to practice taking more pictures!

In terms of a resource, here's a short YouTube clip about lighting: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qM7CcUrUD2g.

Tyson's Galleria

I was sorry to see our field trip postponed. Hope you are feeling better Barbara.

I did take the opportunity to go to Tyson's Galleria to grab a few pictures.
