Have been playing around with b+w conversions in Lightroom, planning on creating a new wall of photos in the house and theming around bridges, these are a sampling, haven't curated the final shots yet. Some of these were shot with my Sony, some are older and done with my Nikon D80. Will be very curious to see how these print. Would love pointers on improving. I think the fog really killed the last one, think it went past etherial into muddy but still hoping I can save it. And the Manhattan detail may be too overdone, might back the sky off.

I like bridges too, so I think these are great. I especially like the Brooklyn Bridge picture but the Golden gate in the fog are pleasingly ethereal.

ReplyDeleteI don't think the fog is too much. I enjoyed seeing these to the point of being inspired to visit Jones Point Park under the Wilson Bridge with another small group on Tuesday. I suppose the scale of the Wilson Bridge is not lacking but I certainly got nothing I'd want to live with like these. This is a good project - focusing on a presentation of a compiled body of work leading to the satisfaction of seeing it in a finished form. I like these for the obvious reasons - tonal drama, series of like forms, strength, combination of power and grace, geometry, moodiness, abstraction, b+w conversion. I will be curious to see prints too - especially the strength of the blacks in the first one - detail appears to fade to black, in a good way - have to take another look at the enlarged version. Playing ethereality of fogged Golden Gate, it might be possible to take the fog a bit lighter, if what I'm seeing is a fair representation.
